Is anyone else happy about this. The city is millions of dollars in the red and probably would have needed federal money to pull this off. Thank goodness this didn't happen.

Correct Matt, but that is/was just the tip of the iceberg. The Daley machine in Chicago would have taken political graft and corruption to levels unheard of in international circles. These guys are the best at what they do (dirty politics).
