Hahahaha...
Biggest matchup of the year is on Versus. Damn the luck. GO MWC.
BTW...Stewart Mandel (SI) wrote a little about TCU swapping conferences with TAMU today. Kinda blasted TCU the whole time. Some idiot from Las Colinas emailed him with the scenario.

Mike didn't like the idea but the other were into it. That may be where that came from.

Looks like Mandel's column focuses mostly on the screw job Arkansas got in Florida last week.
BEAT THE HELL OUT OF OLE MISS!

Right now, TCU would be a lot better for the Big 12 in football.
Other than that, A&M is good in every sport and is good for the big 12.
Still a stupid scenario, and the guys on the Hardline (especially if you discount Mike) are hardly sports guys. They know less than your average joe about sports. They are just there for guy talk (which is good most of the time).

Why would the game that gameday as at not be televised by espn or abc? That doesn't make since. I don't think direct tv carries versus anymore so now I have an excuse not to watch the game.

Gameday, in theory, goes to the best match up in the country ever week. They go to SEC games all the time that are televised on CBS. They go to Notre Dame games that are on NBC.

Yeah, that was a pretty stupid comment by Corby. A&M has a very significant place in the conference.
TCU would be good for the BXII and has an overall better athletic program than many others in the conference. They're really good in baseball, consistently go dancing in women's basketball, getting better in men's bb (after 4 failed years), golf, tennis, the track team is getting it back together after a few down years, and the even dominate marginal sports like rifle shooting and equestrian. About the only thing they really suck in is volleyball.
About the ESPN thing...the conference gets MUCH more money from Vs./CBSC than they would with ESPN. The CBSC (then CSTV) contract is for 10 years/120M. That comes out to about 1.3M per school per year-about double what ESPN offered. Plus, it has exclusive rights as far as scheduling. Under the old contract ESPN had first right of refusal and weekday games killed attendance. Additionally, it gave them 24 nationally televised games in it's first year which was almost double what ESPN showed from 99-05.
This was the biggest reason why we wanted out of CUSA. ESPN used us as pawns and we received little in return in addition to hurting attenance. There was one year that we played on EVERY single day of the week. Over one 3 year period half of our home games were on days other than Saturday. I hardly went to any games from 2000-2004 because I had to be at work at 6 AM. TCU saw a chance to get out of a crappy conference and make more money and rolled with it.

Yeah, they prefer not to do it but sometimes they really don't have many options. They were in Baton Rouge earlier this year for LSU/FU.

Yeah, the DTV/Vs. thing has gotten pretty ugly and I don't know if it will ever be repaired. DTV was paying Vs. what was agreed upon when it was OLN. Since then it's market penetration has increased tremendously. They're just asking to be paid what they pay other channels. DTV comes back with the fact that cable providers and Dish pay Vs. less then what they're asking to be paid by DTV. If anyone budges I think it will be DTV because they are already starting to see a rise in cancellations from hockey markets. Austin saw a rise in cable subscriptions when UT played Wyoming and I'm sure other markets around the Big XII and Pac-10 have experienced something similar.

What's the average attendance at TCU? 35K?
I would be willing to bet Baylor blows that away.

Around that. We had 31k last week. 35 for Texas State. If we're still undefeated it will be close to a sellout for Utah.
We saw about a 4-5k difference in those games but the teams in the mountain states saw a huge dropoff in weekday games. That Utah game you went with me to probably would have had another 5-7 if it were on a Saturday. I can't remember what year it was but AFA and Wyo played in front of 20k and AFA averaged 40k that year. No one wants to go to a night game during the week in November in Colorado Springs.
Also, there's not much else to do in Waco.
