In 22 days, Illinois will make history when the first-ever prep bass fishing tournament in the nation takes place on 18 lakes across the state.
Of the 10 area schools that will be participating in sectional competition on April 24, few will be as prepared as Highland High School.
Head coach Jon Rinderer has been practicing with his team in the gymnasium to hone casting techniques. He taught them the nuances of operating a trolling motor on Silver Lake in Highland. And the team has fished a mini-tournament on Coffeen Lake, site of the sectional.
