So how do we feel about Benson on the Ranger's? And what about his hot, controversial wife?

Why not? Only a minor league contract with ML invite. It used to be that the Rangers would use these reclamation projects as cornerstones of the organization (thanks John Hart!) but I have no problem with what they're doing with them now. It's proved effective the last 3-4 years.

I'd give him a look.
They are throwing him out there in the first spring game, so we'll see what he has to offer in about 3 hrs.

Jon Hart would have given him a 3 year deal for 12M and he would have died of a cocaine heart attack.

so y'all are fine with the Rangers doing this, but talk about how stupid the Cowboys are when they do it?

Since neither team has won jack shit in the last 12 years (ever for the Rangers) I would say they are both pretty stupid.

so y'all are fine with the Rangers doing this, but talk about how stupid the Cowboys are when they do it? Chris Benson has never been suspended by the league, served time in jail, wrecked his car and ran away, convicted of drug possession, hit a guy changing his tire and drove off, or poisoned three teams. His only off-field issue is his wheels-off wife.

I don't know. What's yours? You were trying to make some far-fetched comparison between the Cowboys and Rangers.

my point was that you talk about how the cowboys are stupid for taking chances on guys with baggage, but you think its good when the Rangers do it.

The guy isn't signed to any big money. If he sucks, or lets his wife screw around, he's gone. No big deal.

The Rangers have almost zero obligation with these guys. If it doesn't work out it costs them very little. With the Cowboys it takes up a roster spot, salary cap space, another roster spot for the replacement, and more salary cap room for the replacement's salary.
The Rangers are not obliged to give him a roster spot. If he makes the club he gets 500k. If he doesn't, they pay him about 50k for spring training. If they send him to OKC they pay him about 150k.

the cowboys are never required to give anyone a roster spot. They can cut at any time, with no guaranteed money. They didn't throw big money at any of those guys either (T.O. got a big contract, but his first one wasn't)
