never saw that stuff, but from all accounts I have heard, the buyout is the issue that is keeping the extension from being signed.

How about the stipulation that gives Tech "ownership of the coach’s personal property and naming rights, and also wants his revenue from speaking engagements." Seems like they are trying to control him. This is the part that gets me. I don't understand why tceh should get one red cent that Leach makes outside of football. This has been a pretty bad deal, sucks that it comes right after their best season ever. |

actually, it has been a pretty outstanding deal, and with great timing...stopping any momentum gained on the recruiting front by having such a great season.
It just goes to show how the idiots out there can't handle success.
The reason they are arguing over the appearances and things like that is because Leach is managed by IMG. Tceh just signed a contract with Learfield (I think) which is IMG's competitor. Learfield manages marketing and appearances for the school, and by contract, the head football coach. The school would get a percentage of those appearance fees. Leach doesn't want to leave IMG, or be grouped in with the school on his appearance fees.
I get why he wants that, but I also see where the school is coming from. He uses the university, the logo, the name, their equipment, their cars, their budget to make appearances, and doesn't want to compensate them for that.
