Speaking of hunting...I'm sure someone was, at some time...the other night when I put the dog out, I heard this really high pitch wailing coming from the woods. I stood out on the deck listening to it. It was very creepy and it was obviously the sound of an animal in distress. As I stood there longer I could here this fierce growling and snarling of another animal. Someone was making a scooby snack out of something in my back yard. I just couldn't figure out what it was. The coyotes usually just howl when they are attacking. This thing was growling & snorting. It was spine tingling. Whew! Wonder what it was?

Well I didn't think we did, but I'm beginning to wonder. We are surrounded by farm land & woods. I know we have coyotes, seen them alot. I have seen an occasional fox. But don't know about the wolf. Need to research that but that's what it sounded like.

It was really scary because it was less than 200 feet from the house. I want to go buy some night vision goggles. I would love to see what goes on in those woods at night.

That's what my dogs sound like when going after a pig ear...of course, much more subdued. It's part or their lupus genetics.

You can shoot just about anything in Texas if it is known to be a predator of livestock. Livestock being anything you raise to eat. Wink Wink...

I don't think I could ever shoot a wolf or coyote unless they were threatening another human or dog. Too much like dogs.
DB is right, it is lawful to kill them to protect livestock. You can shoot them for sport in some areas (most likely the border states and Alaska) but are protected in most areas.

Every coyote should be killed on sight.

An ex once was moving and she couldn't take her cat. She wanted to know if I wanted it. I said sure. Four days later it was no where to be found. A week later I ran over a cat skull with a tractor. The coyote cleaned that thing to the bone. I was a little pissed so I checked out a book on how to track them. The book changed my mind and I let it go.

Sounds like a dying rabbit to me.
