I think you are right. Jerry is the man that made them successful. Riiiiiigggggggggghhhhhhtttttttt I wish he would leave, but I seriously doubt he will. As y'all have already pointed out the difference in salaries is not near as much as it used to be. I guess it just depends on the type of guy Stoops is. Is he happy being one of the top dogs at the second level or does he want to be the best in all of football. Jerry is the common thread. You can't deny that. wait...another thing they have in common is both are Arkansas Razorbacks. Come to think of it, that is probably the real reason for their success.

For the last 12 years of losing, no I can't deny that.

There probably is something to it, really.
Jerry needs a disciplinarian, yet someone who will let Jerry have his hand in things. He needs a fiery winner, but someone who is not too ego driven to work under Jerry.
College coaches might just fit that bill. The only coaches that have been successul under Jerry are college coaches. The only one who has made college coaches successful, is Jerry.
Look at Jimmy Johnson in Miami for an example of why coaches need Jerry.

Only one college coach has been successful, Barry won with Jimmy's players. Jerry took a gamble on Jimmy and won, then got pissed that Jimmy got all the credit, fired him, and has lost ever since.

By that logic,
Urban Meyer is unsuccessful, so is Bob Stoops and Jim Tressel. They didn't recruit those players that they had when they won the MNC.

Since they all still have their jobs I wouldn't say they are unsuccessful, but that is a valid point that they won a title with another coaches players. Of course that will change tonight for Stoops or Meyer.
Would you say Larry Coker was successful at Miami?

I would say he was extremely successful. He won a national title and won a ton of games. Look how piss poor they are since they fired him.
Yet another case of not appreciating what they had.

Jerry was as much a part of drafting players and rebuiling the Cowboys as anyone else in the organization. It's amazing how when anything bad happens it's Jerry's fault, yet when anything good happens Jerry has nothing to do with it.

I would agree except that there has been very little good over the last 10-12 years.

Jimmy and Barry are together on PTI right now. Very interesting. They act like they really like each other.
Sidenote- they have joined forces to fight alzheimer's. On the commercials they appear in (you will see them tonight) the guy that is 51 that has alzheimers is the husband of one of my mom's childhood friends. Weird. 51! that sucks.
Not a stubbs name drop, I know, but its all I got.
