When the SWC broke up, it was a done deal that A&M was going to the SEC. tu was left without a home, but it was in the process of working its way into the pac10. If you will remember, when the SWC broke up A&M was top dog in this state.
The Aggies would have been a great fit for the SEC with all the tradition and pageantry. If that had occurred we might be seeing some very different A&M teams, because, like I said, they were big time good the last few yrs of the SWC. In the SEC you have to be good to survive.
But, alas, the dang state of Texas government got involved and said that where we go, our gay brother texas had to go. So the SEC turned its back on us, and the Big 12 was born.
The Pac10 is very interested in Colorado and I think Colorado is very interested in them. They are a Pac10 type school and they recruit that area well. They also absolutely cannot recruit Texas.
TCU's only hope of getting into a big time conference is if Colorado and or Iowa State/Missouri bolted for another conference. If that happened there is a chance tcu might get picked up. Then OSU would go to the North division. I'm all for that. It would be another Aggie win, and it would be in my new backyard.

I think Colorado would be a great fit too. They recruited well in the mid 90s here but most of those guys didn't make much of an impact.
I can see Missouri going to the Big 11 in the near future. I don't really see them wanting ISU. Missouri fits their academic mold and has the best sports journalism in the nation in addition to have a decent all-around athletic program.
I bet OSU would put up a big fight on a move to the North. They'd still have it to where they play their inbred brother every year but would feel they'd lose some attachment.
Even if there was an opening, do you think the Big XII would want another private school and one that's so close to the other? It would give them four conference games in DFW ever year but I'm sure there'd be a lot of opposition.

well, I have heard ISU was a possibility for the Big11 because of location, and Iowa is already in the conference.
Mizzou would be a much better fit for the Big11, I wonder if that will happen.
You are right, OSU probably wouldn't want to go to the north (although they might win it every now and then) but who else would the north add?
That is why I think tcu would have a chance...they are in the metroplex and there is no one else. Unless the Big12 could woo Arkansas away from the SEC (tell them they might win the conference sometime). But I don't see that happening. Man I wish it would though.

I would love to join the Big 12. It would be nice to count on 4 or 5 automatic wins. You'd never get most Arkansas fans to want to leave the SEC. Too much prestige. I think Arkansas in the SEC has been kind of like Tech was in the old SWC, kind of on the outskirts geographically and kind of a step child/maverick program. I think that's about to change.

Hogs are not anything special but I think they could hold their own in the Big 12.

Oh who am I kidding, Arkansas would be lucky to even find their way to the stadium in the greatest football conference that was ever assembled...the BIG XII!

SEC is way better than the Big12. But you are right, some of the stadiums are tricky to get to. Especially Baylor's...its not even on their campus.
OU's is weird because you have to exit way early off of the interstate.
tceh's is tough because you have to go to Lubbutt to get to it.

It took Joe and i 2 freaking hours to find Baylor's field, not to mention having to park in the hood and hoping our tires weren't missing when we eventually made our way back. It took us another 45 minutes waiting to leave after Texas beat them.
