Then, (now the bottom of the 9th in a tie ballgame), Kinsler doubles to lead things off. All we need is a couple of sac flies...anything. Chris "spare big red" Shelton comes in to pinch hit and bunts a popup to the pitcher. Terrible.

Ceej is killing me. I like the guy. I think he has what it takes to be a closer...but I can't defend him at all over the last month. Thing is that they have absolutely no one to count on in that role.

Get him out of here, and bring up Davis already. Shelton spares. Mike - I agree with you on Eddie G. Let's make CJ the 8th inning guy and move EG to the closer role.

Matt says since Eddie G. is a Mexican he won't work everyday. I say reduce his workload with the grounds crew and he could close.

CJ can take the ball every day whether he's got good stuff or not. EG cannot. His fastball tops out at 85. He has a good curve and changeup but when he gets a lot of work in a short period of time his off-speed pitches get flat and an 85 mph fastball is batting practice.

EG throws strikes and gets people out. I'll take that.

He did look good in the 8th yesterday. He got away with one on the flyout but he caught the batter off guard.

Time to revisit this thread.
Last night with a 6 run lead; CJ walks two batters, hits one to load the bases, then delivers a grand slam home run to Richie (spare) Sexton. Next comes the greatest moment in Ron Washington's managerial career. As Wash is walking to the mound to give CJ the hook, CJ flips the ball to Wash and storms towards the dugout. Washington calls his ass back to the mound, hands CJ the ball and tells him to place the ball in my hand. My opinion of Wash went up about 10 points.
CJ now is on the DL and Eddie G is the closer.
Hat's off to you, Ron Washington!
