I can understand being upset...its the constant complaining that gets old. Shut up and play.
Maybe where tcu screws up so much is worrying about making the BCS (which ALL of their coaches and players constantly talk about, I know first hand) instead of just playing football and letting the chips fall where they may.
Utah and Boise St. went out and took care of business and THEN pled their cases. Tcu tries to plead their case, then doesn't back it up.

Neither one of those teams played a team like Texas in the regular season either. BSU played Oregon State...at home.
Utah's only challenge was A&M...which I think was at home too. They also had Arizona but they sucked then...and still do. They had UNC at home and they sucked too.
The two can't really be compared to TCU.

at least they won those games. Its still a quality win. Also, the ags were number 12 in some polls when they lost to utah, then they went to the cotton bowl. That is VERY comparable to what tu is going to do this year. But you are right, way different. Not even close.
haha, name me any other non conference opponents that tcu has that can even come close to the likes of Arizona and UNC. SMU? ha.

that was a joke right? 4 yrs prior doesn't help the cause. That is why the one monumental tcu win isn't helping much...ou in 05. Now that was a good win.

Utah played them the very next year.
The OU win was a great win and we flubbed it up the next week and didn't deserve a BCS bowl. That game could be played 100 times and we could win 99 of them but the one loss just happened to fall on a Saturday that fatefull day in September.
I'm not even talking BCS now. I'm just wondering why we fell out of the top 25. I'm trying to understand the logic. By falling out way too much needs to happen to get to a BCS bowl. The focus now should be to win the MWC convincingly and prepare for a Pac-10 team that we'll play in the Las Vegas Bowl.

Oh, forgot to mention, we do have LSU and Ark on future schedules and word is that we've been in talks with Penn State for a game next year and OU for a game the year after that. PSU may not be willing to do a home and home but the OU game is for here. We also have SFA next year and Texas State the year after that that we're looking to drop. PSU has only 11 games scheduled for '08 and '09 so they'll have to pick up a game somewhere.

That's good to hear. But, this will bring the same result as the Texas game this year.
BTW...UNT scheduled Oklahoma the last two years. Where did that get them?

Don't even try to compare UNT to TCU. TCU actually went up to Norman and won. UNT got beat by 69...there's that number again...

well, I don't know this off the top of my head, but are there any one loss teams that are still ranked this early? If so, weren't they top 10-12 at the beginning? Timing might be what got them unranked.

SOB...my login expired and I lost my long post...
Anyway, there are 3 teams with a loss still ranked. VT, Tennessee, and Georgia. VT was made to look stupid but I'd still have them ranked. Tennessee lost by 2 TDs on the road and gave up 230 yards rushing. Georgia lost at home to a then unranked South Carolina team. I'm just trying to figure out the reasoning. If the same thing happened to A&M you'd be frustrated too. This was the first meeting between two ranked teams in which one was in the top 10...the VT/LSU game started 3 hours after.
TCU gets blasted for playing a weak schedule but when they lose to a top 10 team they get no respect. It's circular reasoning and makes no sense. Besides, TCU has a hard time even getting these matchups. The Texas game almost didn't happen b/c Texas didn't want to do it and only agree to do it if it was one game, in Austin, and with Big XII refs. There's talk of maybe getting them up here in 2012 but I doubt it. It was the same thing in '01 with Nebraska. They would only give us one game and we nearly went up there and beat them. Tech and Baylor were "gracious" enough to give us a home game. There's just very little benefit to playing these games. They are damned if they do and damned if they don't. They didn't get paid that much for the Texas game and then get bumped out of the rankings for losing a game they were supposed to lose...so why waste time even putting them in?
Its just a stupid system that doesn't give everyone a fair chance. Why don't they just take all the BCS teams and make one division and play each other and throw everyone else into 1-AA?

a few thoughts:
If the same thing happened to A&M I wouldn't be frustrated at not being ranked...I don't feel like they should be ranked if they have a loss this early (even if it was against texas) but that is because I don't think they are really that good.
The part about the BCS teams making one division is a real possibility. Those other teams get in the way in their eyes. They could defact and make their own Championship...things like that have happened way back when.
All the problems you speak of are what all non bcs schools who are any good say, the system is geared towards the BCS.
I agree to an extent. But also think about this: tcu was as bad or worse than baylor in the years leading up to the big 12...they would be a baylor or a vandy or an Iowa State in the Big 12. Same goes with Houston. Their teams now can compete, but they would never have gotten back on their feet to get to this level if they had always been in a BCS league. Now, switch Baylor and tcu NOW? TCU would have a shot in a few years. But not at that time.

I agree that if we had been in the Big XII from the very beginning we would not be where we are right now. I think we're up to the point now where we can compete consistently for 3-5 in the Big XII south every year and that would have never happened w/o being conference nomads for the last 11 years. We're in a position to be competitive in any conference that we were asked to join. That being said, I don't think its absolutely essential we join a big conference. Sure, it would be nice, but for the time being, I would just like to see the big boys give us a shot from time to time. With the system being what it is, top teams are hesistant to play us because of the threat of a loss which would completely destroy any MNC hopes...and in truth, I don't blame them.
So TCU can't earn any respect w/o playing top teams but top teams are hesistant to play us. Since 2000 we've been able to play only 4 teams in the top 25 in our non-conference schedule. Nebraska in '01, OU in '05, and Tech in '06. If you're a top team, it doesn't matter who you play but if you're TCU, it does matter, unless, of course, you lose. It's pretty sad that we could have chosen to play Blinn Jr. College and if we rolled through our schedule unbeaten we would have ended up in better shape that we will by chosing to play Texas.
