Maybe so. Either way, the winning coach should not allow that to happen. It gets to a point where enough is enough. I mean "accidentally" step on the plate while hitting the ball or something.
Its a fine line to walk, you don't want to quit, but surely something could have kept a 57-1 game from happening.

College baseball can get pretty crazy and a 10 run lead is never safe, but for God's sake, if you can't hold on to a 20 run lead, you don't deserve to win.

There's really not a lot you can do.
You have a limited amount of guys on the bench. And you can't really take three 'step on the plate' outs an inning. I would ask every batter to bunt going to the plate. Good practice session.

you can take three "step on the plate" outs. I have seen it done. Just do what you are saying. Bunt, but step on the plate. that way its good practice and you get outs.
