I caught this one a few weeks ago, right at the end of the spawn on Fayette. Caught her on a Carolina Rigged Brush Hog in about 4 ft. of water on a windblown secondary point. The water temp. was 72.3 degrees. She weighed 5 lbs. 10 oz. Most of the fish I have caught between that one and this next one have been really skinny which indicates that they are spawned out and in their post spawn funk...this makes fishing a lot tougher. I stuck this 4 lb. 7 oz. fish the other night, which hopefully indicates that they are waking up from the post spawn funk, as she has a fuller belly than those that I have been catching out there. Hopefully I will be able to stick a few more good ones before I move back to the metroplex.

Fischer's pants would have gone crazy Saturday. They had a fishing tournament on right outside my back patio. It's a private lake and this was the first time in years that fishing has been authorized. One guy said he caught a 7/5 and 8/4. There were about 20 boats on the lake.

Bob Seger was one of the icons of my youth that I have not turned my back on.

here are a couple of pictures from the other day at Fayette. The first one was 4lbs 6 oz. the second one was 4lbs 8 oz. They were caught on consecutive casts, within about 2 minutes of each other. I cast out of the front of the boat, stuck the first one, took a pic, and let her go. Then, I through out of the back of the boat and stuck the second one. It was an amazing few minutes. Caught them on A Strike King Red Eye Shad in Sexy Shad color in 2 ft of water right next to the cattails. First one: Second one:

Their color looks a little light. Is that normal for this time of year?

color of the fish depends on a lot of things. Things like forage, water temp, water clarity, structure, cover, etc.
These fish were very healthy.

another thing with color...there is a wide variety of colors anyways. Just like some dogs are different colors than others...even within the same breed.

The look healthy just lighter than I remember. Like you said that is mostly a result of water conditions and time of year.
