KTCU has always been one of my favorite stations around. They have always played consistently good music...even the classical segment during the day. Their format has always been alt/progressive rock with some roots thrown in. Seriously, they play some badass music from people you have never heard from. Anyway, they kind of changed the format recently and I think it would be right up the Pesos ally.
Here's what they describe it as:
We're still "The Choice," but as you may have noticed, our music is getting a makeover. We're breaking some of the rules and playing the kind of music you would find on a Friday night in Fort Worth - old & new, college & country, Americana & rock.
It's a blend we simply call "The Choice."
Some of the artists we're playing include, Pat Green, Bright Eyes, Jerry Jeff Walker, Limbeck, Lucinda Williams, Anberlin, Patty Griffin, Lyle Lovett, Sun Volt, Eli Young Band, Ian Moore, Old 97s, Norah Jones, Bob Dylan, Ben Folds, Randy Rogers Band, Elvis Costello, Willie Nelson, Wilco, Eagles, Amy Winehouse, Creedence Clearwater Revival, 100 Damned Guns, and a whole lot more!
I've already emailed them about the band but I think we should all try to get this going. Here's the contact info:

This is really exciting. Almost every kind of student listens to KTCU. From frat boys, to nerds, to Taliban, to the societal castoffs...everyone at TCU listens to KTCU at some point. I credit them with helping Pat Green's career take off. Back in the mid-90s, when no one had heard of him, back before the Wolf was the Wolf and had ever thought of Texas Country, they were playing him. They helped foster a pretty decent following and it helped him land the Billy Bob's gig that led to the live CD. By the time that gig came around, the Wolf was only playing Songs About Texas and there was still a pretty good turnout. I think the same thing can happen with the Pesos too. They already play one band that they have played with (and I'll refrain from stating my opinions) so they better play the Pesos or else I may have to turn my back on their greatness.
Anyway, I think this is exciting news even though it is a small college radio station.
