Went to Shreveport/Bossier City Saturday to celebrate the bday of a good buddy. Got there around 5 and checked into DiamondJacks Casino/Hotel. The place looks pretty decent at first glance. Then we go up to the room and it's right out of the 70's. Huge hot tub in the room next to the bed, mirrored walls all over. Pretty awesome really.
Went to the bar for a few, then ate the buffet. Then, headed out to the George Strait concert. Martina McBride opened and was on stage when we arrived. Great show. She has some real pipes. I had forgot all about her pretty much until then, and realized how many hits she really had. Then comes George. Man what a show. He still has it. Great show, great time, #1 after #1 after #1. I don't think there is another act that can play 2-3 whole sets of nothing but #1 tunes. It was really a great show, good venue, not a bad seat in the place. Band was unreal. Really glad we went.
Back to the hotel at 11 and out to the casino. We gambled til about 4AM. I finally learned how to play craps and ended up about $200 up at the end. Tyler ended up $100 up playing slots. All was good, and about paid for the trip in our winnings. Yesterday morning we made good use of the hot tub and went back to sleep for a few more hours. Got home around 3PM yesterday. Good times.

I'm worn out. I was still pretty drunk when I woke up Sunday.
This is very first world pains of me but, when we got back I had to turn around and go to the Mavs game with a client for work. The game was at 5:30 and we were in a suite. Free booze and food, but I wasn't feeling well at all. I puked on the way home from Shreveport and Tyler drove the whole way. After a few drinks though, I got back to feeling good.

now that is funny.
I do not feel sorry for you one bit. That mavs game was very good.
Julie, Scheu, Hannah, myself, and two of Julie's friends all went to the stock show on Saturday and ended up at Billy Bob's for the Dwight Yoakam concert. It was also a great show.

We usually stay at the Horseshoe when we go to Shreve/Bo.
Diamond Jacks is pimp if you like the retro feel.
I'm not much into hot tubs at hotels. We all know that a 600 pound greasy gorilla and his crack hoes with gonosyphyliderpes have had an orgy in those things. That shit freaks me out.

Damn Sully. That sucks. I'm sorry you had to go sit in a luxury box after your taxing vacation. Something I have been curious about, though..... Does the AAC require a ticket for the baby giraffe, or is it free like when people bring a baby?

Why is it rich guys always win at casinos and watch sporting events from luxury boxes while the common man walks away with a complimentary watered down drink and down a hundred bucks?
I am about to convert to the Barrack Obamma idea of creating a more "fair" society.

This is the first time ever, I've walked away a winner.
Another note about Diamond Jacks...the service isn't the greatest. When at a casino, I want a waitress to bring me a drink every 15 mins or so. Here, they stopped by about once an hour. But, there was a bar that you could just walk up and order from whether you were gambling or not. This was great.

Hotel in Shreveport? Was this your first time in Shreveport? DB pretty much nailed the demographic.

I can't recommend the concert venue enough. Tickets were pricey, but it was George Strait. Aside from that, the arena was great. Good seats, good sound and the beers were $6. They only sold tall boys, which even made it that much better. Restrooms were accessible and lines were never long at all.
I'm not sure when we'll go back to Shreveport, but it's not a bad deal for a good night of gambling. If we do, or when we do, I'll try out your steak place, DB.
