Well thats just wrong. Before these games you have seen Cromartie, Revis, Bart Scott, Nick Mangold, and more. I mean really? Cromartie called Braday "An Asshole." Saying the team has no attention on them is ridiculous, not to mention they were on "Hard Knocks" this year.

I realize that there are interviews with the players. But that is with every team from college on through the NFL.
No one talks about the players on that team at all. All they talk about is the coach. I will give you that this past week there was some trash talking going on, but that obviously worked to perfection, and was started by the head coach...on purpose.
SO even when there is attention on the players that is by design, too.
Also, I don't understand your reasoning. You posted a link to what Wes Welker said and thought it was greatness. Even though it was a lower (albeit more clever) form of trash talk. But you don't like it when the Jets talk about something that actually matters (you know, the game).

The fact of the matter is that a lot of people feel just like you do. Which is understandable.
But that is how they want it and that is what makes them such a good team. That is the whole idea.

Calling Brady and Asshole in an interview about the upcoming game is not "something that actually matters )you know, the game)." And the thing about Welker was included in the link that was about the "Jabbering Jets"
So you think Rex is just a genius? There isn't any part of him that is just a blowhard and an arrogant idiot?

I think he does an outstanding job. He has fun. His players all LOVE him. His defenses are some of the best in the NFL on a yearly basis, and they win.
Sure he is arrogant, just like every NFL head coach. He is just public with his arrogance. Again, that is by design. Not an idiot AT ALL.
Does he crave attention? Absolutely. Does he use that to benefit his team? Yes.
I guess I don't like that he is so boisterous. But I really like winning. He does that a lot. So I can quickly get over the talking. I would think after the Wade years you would like someone like Rex Ryan.

Yea after the Wade year I want someone close to the opposite extreme. But he is just too much for me. I just can't imagine any of the great coaches of history acting like that. I guess times change. I just wonder how long this bit will keep working.

Its not a bit. I think that is how he really is. Also, I think you are holding some of these older coaches a little to high.
Lot's of old coaches were the same way. They just didn't have daily press conferences, the internet, ESPN, and blogs to talk about them all the time.
He has instilled a work ethic and has achieved a unity on that team. They play together. They back their coach up. They all LOVE him. Listen to them.
Biggest of all, he holds them and himself accountable.
When you have accountability, you are going to be successful.

Well I was just thinking of Tom Landry the whole time so I guess saying that I have compared them to other people is unfair.

I don't think they are any less classy than the Patriots, or the Steelers.
What's worse? Calling someone an asshole or having your QB arrested multiple times for sexual harrassment/assault?
What's worse? A loud coach, who is personable and loyal, or a CEO type who will cut you or trade you because you disagree with him? Someone who refuses to answer questions and won't dress like he's supposed to?
And I don't think the Steelers or Patriots are wrong for doing it the way they do, either. Its a business.

I just can't imagine any of the great coaches of history acting like that. I guess times change. There is no way I could have known you were thinking about one coach. Also, Landry was extremely cutthroat behind the scenes. His players (Don Meredith excluded) loved him to no end, but he wasn't this soft spoken stoic leader all the time. He was in your face, and demanding. That is why he was successful. He held people accountable. See a theme here? I think Tom Landry was a more morally upright character than Rex Ryan. No doubt. But their coaching styles weren't as different as you might think. Less cussing, less glamour. Just as tough.

I know you couldn't have know that, thats why I clarified I had tunnel vision there. I agree that a team needs accountability. I dont have a problem with that. The Cowboys need that. I just think there are different ways to control the accountability on your team.
When I was comparing Landry and Rex I wasn't comparing the football coaching styles, I was more comparing the actual actions. For example Rex running into the endzone to celebrate a TD and air punching the camera as he walks off the field at halftime.

hahaha, you have to take the good with the bad. That stuff doesn't bother me. Its actually kind of refreshing sometimes.
Coaches are in a no win situation there. The ones that do that stuff need to "hide their emotions" and "not be affected by any one thing".
The ones who don't are the ones who "need to show a little enthusiasm and some fire"

I can't stand the Jets organization, but I do like Rex Ryan a little bit.
He's definitely got a different way of doing things than most coaches, but he does get the job done, and he is actually pretty dang funny in his press conferences.
