You just described every team in America. We may suck but looking god awful in an intra squad isn't a good indicator. This is ONE of the very few things I know about. Ref or not you can't judge a team in two a days and scrimmages

I know, I am just relaying what I know to be true, too.
Like I said, we will probably suck really bad. But you can't tell by looking at an intra squad.

Just got done watching the replay of last weeks game. All in all there wasn't much to it, but here are my observations.
Offense looked about as expected, moved the ball well, made a few nice plays. O-line looked like they were coming along pretty well but still need a few weeks to pull things together. JJ made some a few decent throws but seemed to struggle on his deep balls, hopefully that's just a beginning of the year timing issue. He also seemed to make a lot of check downs, but they were working so I'm guessing the D was willing to give those to them. Also, remember the name Ryan Swope, kid is a flat out stud, he will be a huge weapon this year. That was about it, like I said, they didn't really show very much.
To me the defense looked better than expected, but still has a ways to go before they are ready for OSU. SFA had a chance to make a few plays, but they had quite a few drops which really hurt them. The one thing that really stuck out for me was tackling. In past years A&M had to be one of the worst tackling teams in the nation, but in this game the guys did a great job of staying in front of the ball carrier and wrapping up when they got to him. I saw very few missed tackles and the ones I did see the tackler was at least able to slow him up until his help got there. The defense still has a good bit to go, but they are at least showing some improvement.
And now, special teams. Only word I can come up with to describe it is down right horrible. We have a huge problem if the Ags aren't able to sort out the problems in the kicking game. SFA's starting field position had to be close to the forty, which is fine against them but will get us killed the rest of the season. Punting game seemed slightly improved but still below average. FG team was 2/3 but the long was 32, next was 28 with the miss from 24. Sadly if they don't get something figured out this is going to be another long year for the Ags.
Even after this first game the season is still a toss up for me. I'm still sticking with 8-4 but if the special teams problems don't get worked out we could be looking at 7-5 or worse another 6-6 season.
