Sully, do you still feel this way?
You've always hated dirk, and have made it very well known.
Mike? Your opinion change?

I told you, the new CBA (which favors the owners) kicks in next year so the players that can want to get another contract under the old CBA. If you don't listen when people talk basketball then why are you posting on this thread trying to act like you know what you're talking about when by your own admission you have no idea. I find it funny that you tried to sports bully me on something that I admitted I had very little knowledge about and didn't even try to defend because I didn't even care but then you Sports Sturm us with this gem: 4 years for 96M deal getting finalized tomorrow in Germany. 24 mil per year...no way in hell. If that is the deal it will go down as one of the most over-priced contracts in the NBA. Bazinga!

I wondered when one of you would bring up these old posts. That's all I could think about the entire postseason, while he's been killing it. Back in 05, I was calling for a Dirk trade for Garnett. Then after 06, I wanted to unload him and his MVP since he had some value. Now, I'm glad we stuck with him. This was a really good team when it all counted. And one hell of a coach too.

The thing with Dirk is you always knew he had it in him but he never had anyone to push him. Donn Nelson always wanted him to be a jump shooter and thought he was too fragile to post up. Avery was too focused on defense to really care what he did and he just played it safe from 16 feet out. When he did drive to the basket everyone always wondered why he didn't do it more. He always had the inside ability but never learned how use it when the game called for it. But RC's offense suited him perfectly. Their ball rotation is something we've never seen around here. There are at least 4-5 touches for every possession and the ball gets spread around the entire court. By the time the shot clock rolls down to 8 seconds the defense is tired and the Mavs get an open shot or Dirk is able to penetrate the paint. I think RC should get most of the credit for finally getting Dirk to realize his potential. They may be one and done but for one year it was magic.
