I agree with Sully that we will win it this year.........or something like that cause America curb stomps people. In fact, your lucky world cause if we gave two sh-ts about soccer we would be the best and dominate every sport EVER! So consider it a favor from the nice guys over in the U S of f-ing A that we don't take it serious......more like just a hobby.

If America's best athletes were playing soccer it wouldn't even be a contest. I guess we have to let the world win at something.

Thing is, we tend to win/stay competitive in matches because we are so athletic. Our recent success can be more attributed to becoming more of a soccer nation. We are actually producing soccer players of a high quality. You are seeing kids be encouraged to play soccer by their parents, whereas this wasn't the case 20 years ago. Kids who played soccer their entire lives and love the game are now becoming parents and encouraging their kids to play the sport. Unfortunately it won't be an overnight process. In order for us to become a true soccer power, it will take time. I think we are at the beginning of that. We can compete with any team in the world, as shown last summer when we ended the number 1 team in the world's 38 game unbeaten streak en route to our first ever appearance in a final at a major FIFA tournament. There will be setbacks, but what we are seeing is a shift from how soccer was in the country. It does nothing but help our standing as the greatest athletic country in the world.

"Our recent success..."
Success is winning in my book. How do you measure success?

And winning is what we have been doing, against teams we normally had no business being on the field with.

Success in my book means that you lived long enough to get away from your mother before she hit you in the head with a hammer, and raised a pig on the breastmilk.

Are we at the same level of Brazil, Spain, Holland? No. But we are closing the gap.

Even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in a while.
But to take nothing away from the Swiss, they are great defensive team.

I love it when Sully goes all stubbs on us and acts like he knows what he's talking about but really has no clue. I think he does it on purpose, what do y'all think?

Spain sucks. They got beat by the Swiss today. Which is surprising because the Swiss have holes in their defense.
