We stopped at a Chili's for lunch and they had the WC match on. First thing I noticed was the god danged buzzing!! Holy shit, the networks either need to filter that crap out or they need to take all those damn horns up at the gate. We are Americans, we pay the bill for this thing, so cut that noisemaking shit out!@
As far as the "competition", a 1-1 tie and a scoreless game hardly qualify.
I AM OUT!!!!!!

I watched for about 20 minutes today at the end of the game. The buzzing is stupid. I looked it up, and apparently it's a South African thing. And, in every venue, if the spectator doesn't have their own horn, they are handing them out. Freaking terrible.
I thought I'd give it a chance, but no F'ing way. BORING! How do you end in a freaking tie? I think I saw one half shot in all of 20 minutes. Get this the hell off the air.

Oh, Letterman had a funny in his monologue last night.
"The world cup starts today, so all Americans please join me in saying who gives a shit."
Something like that.

The horn is a vuvuzela. Its supposed to sound like an elephant, instead its annoying. The TV networks tried some things to filter it out, but they couldn't find a solution that worked. FIFA looked into banning them, or only allowing them at the South African games. However, it was finally decided that it's a cultural thing, and they would be allowed at all games. The US does not foot the bill for the World Cup. Any country can submit a bid to host. They have to prove they have adequate facilities , or the ability to upgrade/build new facilities in a certain timeline. It is solely on that country, kinda like the olympics.

Hang on KBK, I bet the majority of the TV money is coming from ESPN. Regardless, America has spoken, get rid of the damn horns or we are not watching.

Way to go Framp. That's kind of like winning a gold medal in the special olympics.

ESPN paid a lot of money to carry the World Cup games. They only did that, b/c there is a lot of money to be made from showing them. ESPN carrying the games, have nothing to do with who foots the bill for the World Cup.
