Alright, four years of little to no soccer. Things are back to normal.

That championship game was a prime example of why Americans do not embrace the game. Nearly 120 minutes of no scoring. There are guys faking injuries left and right. It was just boring.

I know there is some faking of injuries in soccer. However, a lot of times the guys are in pain(getting stepped on with metal studs is no fun and makes it difficult to run with any reasonable amount of effectiveness). Since there are no natural breaks in the game they will roll around/deal with the pain until they can continue. This is why we see so often a player on the ground, then back up again. I'm not saying that soccer players aren't faking "injuries", but that many times players are in pain, and have to be down until they can continue. I know it may not seem like much, but getting whacked on the ankle or foot, can make a soccer player ineffective. Could these players get up and limp around? Sure, but they are still of no use at that point. If soccer allowed for free subs, and had natural breaks I think some of this would go away.
As for the goals, the keepers had amazing games to keep it 0-0. It was not a beautiful game, as the Dutch used fouls to break up the Spanish attack/possession. It was a game that could've gone either way, but the best team won.

Did Natalie Holloway's family feel at least a small bit of vidication from the Dutch's loss?

not funny. You're trying way too hard.
Meyer, your reasons are legit, but they don't change the fact that it makes soccer very unattractive to a society where proving your toughness is taught from an early age. If they got up and limped around and shook it off like a man it would be a lot better then rolling around like someone just cut your leg off, just to hop up and jog off 3 seconds later.
