And if this were another country that may be the case. There are too many sports in the states for that to hold true. Most countries don't have as many sporting options as we do, or soccer is the national past time. Much like football is king in our country.

You are correct. Hercules Gomez, tied for leading goalscorer in the top Mexican League. He is the first American to ever lead a foreign league in goal scoring. He will not be a starter. But how many teams can say they have Hercules coming off the bench?

Whatever happened to Freddy Adu? Did his buzz as a youngster fade away?

He has not lived up to expectations. He is playing with a club in Greece, trying to resurrect his career. Plus he came from Ghana, his birth certificate could have been fake. For all we know he's really almost 40

Will we beat the Brits? I watched a feature on that Landon Donovan expressing his love for the Brit fan. WTF? Can we trust this guy?

If our defense can get its act together that will help. We will be playing against one of the top 3 strikers in the world. I really think we have a shot, and that if we do win, it should not be considered the upset everyone is making it out to be. Getting 3 points out of the game would be huge and set us up nicely to get out of the group. I could see 2-1 for the US. Our goalkeeping is superior to their's, and our midfield can play with them. They just lost their captain and starting center back to a freak knee injury in training, so they are trying to piece their defence together. Then again, so are we. They are better than us when comparing forwards. We need to stay disciplined and compact the field on defense and be prepared to break out fast when the counter attack opportunity is there. Set pieces(ie: corner/free kicks)will be a pivotal point in the game, whoever can when these chances will be in prime position to win.
Landon went out on loan to Everton in English Premier League after the start of the year , he is no traitor. He was simply talking about how the atmosphere at a soccer game in England in different and superior to the atmosphere at a game here. The passion the English fans have for the game is crazy.
