Got rid of Millwood and picked up Lowell and Harden. I think Harden is a good and Lowell still has some stuff. It just makes me feel a little better that they are actually making some moves and not just letting players go, like Byrd.
Thought?

They are going to fall apart next year. Hicks needs to get this team sold so some money can come in and make some real moves. These are just status quo moves to satiate fans. We really didn't gain much yesterday.

But in my eyes we did gain, even if its not much.

Really? A guy with an era over 7 coming off of surgery, and a guy who has been on the backside of his career longer than I can remember.
I think they break even at best.

Harden is much younger than Millwood and is 50-29 with a 3.39 era in his career. Id say there is more of a chance to get good play out of him than Millwood. We needed a right handed bat and Lowell seems to consistantly put up solid number even in his later years. What I'm sayin is that I didn't see us goin afyter anybody, just dumping salary, with the state of the ownership.

I typed Lowell into google and the following came up...
"Sources say the Texas Rangers want to acquire Mike Lowell from the Boston Red Sox. Boston said they could have him if they would come dig up the corpse."
That is funny right there.

Money dump. This franchise is cursed. I thought Maz Ramerez was the big prospect at catcher? WTF?

I don't think he has been panning out like they thought. He isn't payed anything so that wouldn't be a dump I don't think.

He was the big prospect at catcher.
Craig, I realize you are the eternal optimist but this is ridiculous.

Sorry, I was referring more to Millwood, Byrd and Pudge as the money dump.
How they think Teagarden and Salty are the answer at catcher is beyond me. Salty is injury prone and Teagarden can't hit. We are screwed.

We replaced a pitcher that won't stay in shape with one with more potential. And we got the right handed bat we needed for a catcher that we don't have room for. I'm not saying we have done anything worth cheerin for, all I'm sayin is its more than I thought they would do. I think we have gotten better the last couple days but I don't know about overall yet cause we don't have Byrd. Look up the numbers on Harden, cause I can't right now, and I think they are something to look foward to.

Interesting moves. I don't think they'll fall apart but I highly doubt they'll be as good as they were last year.
Hardin-still young and throws exceptionally well...when healthy. Kind of a high price tag to pay on a guy like that but it might work out. What sucks is that it's only one year so if he does pan out you know he's gone next year unless the new owner has longer arms and shorter pockets than Hicks.
Lowell-time will tell. Like Craig said, he still produces at his age...but he's looked to be on his last leg for 5 years. Knowing the Rangers' luck he'll finally die out this year.
Ramirez-He has fallen off dramatically in the last year. A good friend lives up in OKC and goes to lots of the games. He said that his defensive skills are pathetic. He's never seen a catcher fall off like that before. I've heard the same thing from other minor league reports. His batting was always suspect to begin with.
Ray-Another high risk that MIGHT pay off. I guess there's not much you could get with Milly. With the 3M they gave Balt and the signing of Hardin I guess you trade salaries but pick up two additional players. Hopefully the guy they picked up in the rule-5 draft can pan out. If Ray does pay off then he'll fill a void in the pen and you can move Feliz or Holland to the rotation.
I wonder if they still have interest in Ben Sheets.
The rotation should be interesting as well because now you have these guys in the mix:
Hardin Hunter Harrison Feldman McCarthy Feliz Holland Sheets-if there's still interest.
Gonna be interesting...

Yes if Hardin does pan out Ranger have the option for the next year, but yes it will depend on who is writing the checks. I do hope Maddux can convince Sheets to come here.

This is not going to go well. I smell a disaster of a season.

Way too many unknowns. Five of those 8 guys I listed had arm issues last year. Thankfully Maddox is on staff and will be able to get more out of whoever is out there than we've seen in years past.
