Well, this year was pretty much a bust for me. Got the two does, and plenty of meat in the freezer though, so it wasn't so bad.
I spent more time out there than I have in the last few years, and no buck. It was a weird year. I had 800 pictures on my camera from the last week, and not a single buck. Saw plenty of does and young bucks, but no mature boys this year, besides curly and the busted rack suckers. I hope Curly sticks around, but I'm afraid he got shot. I was hoping I'd get him last couple of weeks, but it wasn't in the cards.
The snow kept me in two days over Christmas, so I went back Friday and Saturday. I only saw two or three bucks and they were all real young. Back to married life and working on the house. Next up is a remodeled bathroom and backyard.

I am all ready excited for deer season next year. Will be awesome if things work out with a lease.

I had a great deer season. I got to hunt 3 different places for 5 different days and shot my first deer (doe) and first buck.
All in all, I sure can't complain. It was more fun than I could have imagined.
By default, I won the Shiner Bock Big Buck of the year for 2009/2010 (or was it Lonestar Big Buck of the year?)
Either way, Finch and Sully each owe me a 6er of Lonestar Light bottles.
Next up: Lone Star Angler of the Year 2010--Let the title defense commense!

It is fun to go back and read that sucker again. I can't wait to start posting updates from the hunt soon. We never got to see pics of Fischer's deer.

After reading this yesterday, I've been dreaming about deer hunting all night. This was fun to do, and I can't wait to get back in the stand again, or brushed up next to a tree rattling. Oh man...best time of the year for sure!!!! I am all fired up!

I'm always on the lookout for improvements in gear and whatever else I need in the field.

Damn, that's a bruiser.
I'm going out to the Federal Game Reserve next week to scout out my spot.
I've got a pretty good little honey hole out there that butts up next to a private property with a feeder on it, about 40 yards from the fence.
I've yet to see a clause that states I can't shoot deer traveling from federal property to private property.
