Kills me!
This guy is terrible. I can't stand to listen to his bit.
"If you think you're indispensible, stick your hand in a bucket of water, and pull it out, and you'll see how much you're missed!"
Seriously, how does that apply to football? Keep smoking on that pipe Lou.

That actually applies to football very, very well. The team is more important than any one person.
Might want to stick to real estate.

Lou may be past his time, but I will not criticize one of the top two Razorback coaches of all time.

he talks funny and is a little cheesy. But he is widely regarded as one of the great speakers, motivators, and innovators of the coaching world.
He is famous for having little sayings and stories to get a point across (like the one sully mentioned). If you want a good read, you should get his book. Its got tons of one liners that are great.
My favorite is when he is talking about the art of motivation:
"Motivation is very simple. You get rid of the ones who aren't motivated."

Back in his day, if I need to win one game...I want Holtz coaching my team. His '76 Orange Bowl win is the greatest upset victory in Arkansas history.
Also!
I will be forever indebted to him because his arrival at the University of Arkansas caused a seldom-used, overrated, third string QB to quit the team and slink across the state line in order to ride the bench at Okie State. Thank you, Coach Holtz.

who is that?
Does it bother you that he is the biggest Notre Dame homer in the world?

Nah, his ND homer-isms don't bother me. He was arguably the greatest coach in Notre Dame history. You just have to realize where he's coming from when he talks about the Irish.
Oh, that no account, third string, quitter QB was none other than:
Houston Dale Nutt
Now you know the rest of the story.
good day.

figured it was him.
You do realize that Holtz then hired HDN to coach for him and that HDN is a Holtz protege'.

I think Dr. Lou is great. He was so entertaining as a coach. I don't think I've ever seen a coach more fired up for games than when UND played UM. He's also pretty entertaining when he's on Hannity for the Great, Great, Great, Great American Panel.

Nutt is a bullshiter and an asskisser of the highest order, I have no doubt that Frank Broyles had more to do with Nutt being hired as a grad asst. under Holtz than Holtz did. It probably started the dissension between between Holtz and Broyles that eventually got Lou fired. *this is all conjecture on my part, but it comes from 40 years of closely following Razorback athletics.

Wasn't Nutt then hired by Holtz as a full time RB/FB coach?
Nutt speaks of Holtz as if he were a father figure to him.

That was with JJ at Okie State, where Houston latched his lips firmly to the asses of Thurman Thomas and Barry Sanders.

when I heard him speak, he said that he was the RB/FB coach at Arkansas for X amount of years under Holtz.
I haven't ever checked to see if it was full assistant or GA.
