I do not coach special teams. I only coach the Punt return because its our defense. I am in charge of the Punt returner.
I also am in charge of firing them up before they go on the field.

That's good. What I saw last year was the returner catching the ball and then running in place for a few steps before heading down field. You don't have time for that on PRs. You gotta take what you can get. If the coverage is only gonna give you 3 yards you gotta go out there and take it.

you are actually wrong on that point. But good try. IMO, running in place a few steps always helped close the gaps between blockers and the pursuers, which helped me pick a direction a little bit better when I was a return man. As a punter, I wished the returning team would have done that. I had a problem with out-kicking my coverage causing huge gaps in coverage, leading to big returns against us.

you are actually wrong on that point. But good try. Well, the game I saw your guy never took more than 3 steps forward before getting plowed. It seemed to me that if he took off once he caught the ball he'd get a few more yards.

Again, nice try.
Every time we had a punt return last year we were trying to block it. Meaning no return was set up. Our return man's job was a.) catch it b.) look for a crease (this is what he was doing when he was "jogging in place" and c.) take care of the football.

I'll be heading out to hunt Friday night. We'll see. Maybe I could stay long enough for the game, then head out afterwards. I'll keep you updated.
Good work though. Get em this week.
