Rodney, were there any songs that you left off the record that just didn't fit this one but you'd like to include on a future recording? I know it's a bit premature to talk about it but do you have any thoughts of a third record? Have there been any songs written since the completion of LD?

Mike - no it doesn't bother me at all if someone doesn't hear a song the same way I wrote it. I like hearing all the different takes on what it means. But just because it might not be exactly how I wrote it, doesn't mean it's not valid. It's all about what the song means to the listener. Stubbs - to me 10 lb. test could have been on BTSO. Or better yet 200 acres could have been on this one. 200 acres was sort of a breakthrough song for me. I wrote it right before recording BTSO, and it almost didn't make the record, but now I see that song as a turning point for the way I write. There were no extra songs for this record. I wish there could have been but I just didn't have them. I have not written any songs since TLD, but I've got some good ideas that I've been playing around with. Our 3rd record will be pushed farther musically and production wise. I want to attack the recording process a little differently, go for some new sounds. We will most likely travel someplace out of state to record it, just so we are completely immersed in making the record. We need a place with no distractions.

And the Nashville sound begins...well, it was good while it lasted...

I thought the same thing about 10 LB. Test yesterday. I think it would have fit in perfectly for BTSO.
Another question. Let's say a record company wants to pick up TLD (and I'm sure there will some interest from some labels) and they want to release it on their label, but add a few new recordings from BTSO. This is actually quite common. Ragweed did it with their first label release as well as Pat Green, Jack, and others. Which songs from BTSO would you like to put on it and how what would you do differently this time around?

I would probably fight this if I could. I would rather move forward and write new songs than revisit the old ones. But I think 200 acres could work great. Maybe highway blues, but I really like the recording of that one - I'd hate to mess with it.

Good answers. Let's see what the survey says.

Rhonda called me yesterday to ask if 11 Hours was about AP. I told her she was so misguided. I haven't really listened to it much b/c 1) it's at the end of the record and 2) it's hard to hear at work but I analyzed it quite heavily last night. Aren't all the songs on this CD about AP? Just like all the ones on the last CD were all about drugs? Come on guys get your little interpretive minds in gear. It's ALL about the symbolism. Sheesh...amateurs...

Puka? Isn't that like vomit? That would be the correct spelling. Those are the necklaces Kenny Chesney wears.
