CBS Sports 105.3
Ben and Skin do afternoon drive from 3-7. Just heard K-Scott and Greg Hill (I think the former Aggie great) on middays. The station let Russ Martin go but retained Jager in the mornings. Apparently it will be the only non-sports show. Big Dick Hunter was also let go. I think they may actually be able to pose a threat to the Ticket because the station has a 100,000 watt signal and can reach significantly more people than 1310.

ESPN is plenty powerful, and it doesn't compete with the ticket.

105.3 did fairly well. I can't imagine CBS changing the format unless they thought they could do well. Lots of Ticket fans liked Kevin Scott. I can see lots of people going back and forth. Having a former player that you can actually understand (not Michael Irvin) will help.

I listened to them on my lunch break.
Not great, not terrible. It needs more research.
I still don't think they will be able to compete with the ticket.

I understand they have all the BCS radio broadcasts. They might go to network early in the afternoon. Exclusive interviews, analysis, ect. People would tune in on the way home from work. Could give them a decent lead-in.

Their signal will give them a huge advantage. Not sure if it is enough to overcome their talent, but we'll see.

true, stubbs.
But if sports is what you want, you probably aren't listening to the ticket. Its more like guy radio. I don't think they will last.

I got to tell you...it's nice to be able to actually HEAR local sports talk without a bunch of static. People in Tarrant County have been complaining for YEARS about the signal on the Ticket, maybe the Ticket will now do something about this.

In the car, I can barely hear it in the mornings (before dawn) and forget about it at night. Plus, I have never been able to pick it up inside the house.

It's part FCC and part astronomy. The FCC won't allow 1310 to have a signal stronger than a 60 watt light bulb. Then, they require them to power down from 6 PM to 6 PM. That was the reason for 1700. You couldn't get it north of Renner Road. 1700 opened up the Ticket for the northern part of the metroplex. They then added 104.1 for the western side (north, central, and south). They eventually made 1700 part of KLIF and only go Ticket for special events. The problem with 104.1 is in the winter when the earth is furthest from the sun. There is tons of atmospheric interference and certain times of the year they run into the same problem with 1310. When I lived in Keller 104.1 had a ton of static from about 10 PM to 7:30 AM from October to April. They've been running spots that they are now past their interference period. I guess they were able to get approval to boost their signals. It was weird, I'd get a hip hop station from Houston on 104.1 in the mornings.
