04:39 AM CDT on Monday, September 8, 2008 From staff reports
Here are four significant victories for the Texas Longhorns and Arkansas Razorbacks in their rivalry that dates back to 1894. Texas has won 55 of the meetings, Arkansas has won 21, and there have been no ties.
Longhorns wins
Dec. 6, 1969, Longhorns 15, Razorbacks 14, in Fayetteville: This game was moved to the end of the season, and it didn't disappoint. No. 2 Arkansas held a 14-0 lead, but No. 1 Texas rallied with a stingy defense, a bruising Wishbone attack and a surprising pass on 4th-and-3 to set up the winning score en route to Texas' second national championship.
Oct. 20, 1962, Longhorns 7, Razorbacks 3, in Austin: One of many great games the two teams played in the decade. Both were undefeated and ranked in the top 10, but No. 1 Texas prevailed in the end with a 3-yard touchdown run by Tommy Ford with 36 seconds left.
Oct. 17, 1987, Longhorns 16, Razorbacks 14, in Little Rock: Unranked Texas started its final drive with 1:48 to go and down 14-10 to No. 16 Arkansas. Quarterback Bret Stafford led the Longhorns on the 11-play, 56-yard drive that ended with an 18-yard touchdown pass to Tony Jones with no time left.
Oct. 21, 1939, Longhorns 14, Razorbacks 13, in Austin: Another Texas rally was required to beat the Razorbacks, and it was accomplished in an unusual fashion. With 30 seconds left, Jack Crain took a short pass from R.B. Patrick and went 67 yards for a touchdown. The extra point made the finish extera special.
Razorbacks wins
Oct. 17, 1964, Razorbacks 14, Longhorns 13, in Austin: It doesn't get much better for Arkansas fans than a win over the defending national champion Longhorns in their own backyard. An 81-yard punt return by Arkansas' Ken Hatfield, ranked in Ivan Maisel’s Top 100 Iconic Moments of College Football on ESPN.com, played a role in the win and Arkansas' eventual national title.
Jan. 1, 2000, Razorbacks 27, Longhorns 6, in Dallas: The only meeting between the two rivals in the Cotton Bowl Classic was a Razorback rout. On a New Year's Day many worried about Y2K, the No. 24 Hogs crashed about every drive Texas tried. Arkansas held the No. 14 Horns to minus-27 yards rushing and forced nine punts.
Sept. 13, 2003, Razorbacks 38, Longhorns 28, in Austin: The unranked Razorbacks stopped No. 6 Texas in its tracks with the arm and legs of quarterback Matt Jones. Jones completed only 50 percent of his passes, but he threw for a touchdown, ran for 124 yards and scored running and throwing. Cedric Cobbs pounded out 119 yards, and Arkansas' defense held Texas to 107 yards rushing.
Oct. 19, 1991, Razorbacks 14, Longhorns 13, in Fayetteville: In Arkansas' final foray through the Southwest Conference, most league teams wanted to give the Hogs a pretty tough boot out the door. But Texas couldn't get that last kick to work, missing an extra point on its final touchdown to give the Hogs bragging rights.

There is a chance Hurrican Ike will bail those Horns out of the thrashing they are about to receive from my Hogs.
I would really hate to see this game get postponed until later this season when Arkansas will be more experienced.*

This is a tough one, but I might take Arkansas to cover the spread.

25 points last I looked.
I would think twice about that, Mr. Finch.

That's what makes it tough. tu needed a late td to cover against UTEP and that was 26.5. Also, Mack is not a great coach ATS and Petrino is a better X's and O's guy. I think it is a 20 point game which is a little closer than I like, but enough for me to keep an eye on it.

Take Texas and give the points.
Texas is ranked in the top ten.
Arkansas has struggled to beat WESTERN ILL. and LaMo AT HOME! Arkansas plays 19 TRUE freshman that will make their first trip on Saturday. We will be lucky our guys don't crap their pants when they get to the stadium and see 90,000 horn fans performing same sex acts on each other.
* no offense to any horn fans, i am just kidding.
