I know Cowtown doesn't want to hear this, but I think Arkansas is having trouble hiring a coach because they mishandled the last one they had.

Coach-The only thing mishandled with our last coach was that he was given a free pass after back to back 4-7 seasons.
I listened to this guy on ESPN say that Arkansas fans expectations are too high. What is wrong with expecting more than a .500 record in conference play over a 10 year period. That is what HDN did. What is wrong with expecting more than TWO top 25 finishes over a 10 year period? That was all Houston Nutt could do. Would the fans of Texas, LSU, Oklahoma, USC or even Texas A&M stand for that? Why should Arkansas fans be any different?
The football coach at the University of Arkansas is not just the highest paid state-employee on the campus; he is the highest paid state-employee in the entire STATE. The Razorback fans show great faith in rewarding him with that big contract and with great faith comes great expectations.

If my employer wants to "mishandle" me with a $3.5 million check as I am walking out the door after RESIGNING from my job; just hours before I take a new job across the street with a major competitor. I am not saying poor houston.
I am saying they mishandled all that stuff that came out this past off season. Not only that, but all these coaches they are hiring are making big time money already. They don't need to come to arkansas to get their payday.
I was not really a Houston Nutt fan, I am just saying there was some shady crap that went down.

All of that stuff about the player's parents. The assistant coach (Mahlzahn) using it as a chance to bolt.
Someoen leaked stories about an inappropriate relationship that Nutt allegedly had.
That type of thing.
Nutt is a pretty well respected member of the coaching community. Other coaches give him the benefit of the doubt. They don't like the way he was treated.
This could be the case, it could not. I don't know. I was just speculating.

Nutt brought it all on himself.
Players parents meet with coaches all the time. Especially when they are sold a line of bullshit by a coach like Nutt.
Nutt resented Malzahn from day 1. He was forced to hire him because of Nutt's own inability to recruit in state. Nutt stood by (some people say instructed) while his staff, friends, certain players,and even Nutt's own family constantly harassed,disrespected and intimidated Malzahn and the 5 kids from Springdale. Hell, Nutt wouldn't even pronounce the man's name correctly? (I guess he thought he was Parcells)
His affair with the fat,one-eyed news anchor was discovered by regular fans that used the Freedom of Information Act to look at his university provided cell phone records. (I would think a true playah/big ballah/shot caller like Nutt would at least be smart enough to buy his own damn cell phone for his booty calls). Anyway...no one at the university leaked anything, in fact they did all they could to cover it up and keep Nutt from further embarrassing himself and the school. (2000 text messages to her in the month before a bowl game...the he lost embarrassingly)
Regardless of all this crap; Nutt is a mediocre football coach and that is why most of the Arkansas fans I know are glad he is gone. We deserve better.
