Highfin Blues? Opps? Channel? I prefer the high fins out of the canals here around Beaumont. The Opps are normally good around November here. My faja-in-law has a stocked channel cat pond, so i'm spoiled on them...

I like cahnnel ok, but it's yella cat or bust for me. Nothin beats a good hunk of belly flap off a yella.

For channel cats, the Trinity and Colorado rivers stand out, as do the Rio Grande, Frio, Guadalupe, Brazos and upper reaches of the Sabinal. Blues cats are common and grow large in the Trinity, Nueces, Guadalupe, Sabine, Red, Lavaca, San Antonio, Frio and Navidad. The Trinity and Navasota are top producers of flatheads, along with the Colorado Navasota, Guadalupe, Sabine, Brazos, San Antonio, Frio and Neches.

I've been trying to fish the Navasota and the Brazos all summer but the have both been too low since May. The Gudadlupe is my home, I love that river.

The Trinity has several things...catfish is not one of them. There is plenty of trash, doodoo, bodies, and lesser sorts and ne'erdowells but no big catfish...at least around these parts. I don't even think there are any living organisms.

Anything Trinity within DFW proper is bad. I do live on a private lake with some big bass and cats. They had a bass tournament a few months ago and there were at least 5 eight pounders pulled in just a few hours. I've seen some cats in the water but haven't seen any reeled in.

You've seen cats or you've seen carp?

No, they're cats. I haven't seen that many. Haven't seen any carp. There's some foliage that's spreading like hydrilla under the water. They need to take care of that. Have you seen any carp on the other side?
