The scoop on where we would prefer for people to buy cds... We make the most money on selling cds at shows, and on selling digital downloads. That doesn't mean that we want to sell all of the cds at shows though. When you buy a copy of either album from any retailer, it, as Rodney says, is reported to soundscan. Soundscan is a system that is used to track cd sales, that is what the barcode on a cd is used for. If it ever came to a point where we needed to use the number of cds we have sold as a way to attract interest from labels, the number reported by soundscan would be what those people look at the most. Digital downloads scan as well. It is also good to sell copies of cds on sites like Lonestarmusic because if you sell enough you show up in thier top sellers list, which is published on the site and in their magazine. It also encourages the publishers to include the band in their online and print editorials. Don't take this to mean that I want you guys to buy the cd there instead of from us directly. Buy it the way that you want to. There are good things about buying it either way. If you buy it from us, it is probably cheaper for you, and puts more money into our cause faster... which is awesome. If you buy it online, or at a store, we still get a fair price for it, although less, and it is recorded officially as a sale.
Of course you don't have to buy the cd from lonestar to get it autographed. That promotion is not something that is designed to allure those of you who see us often, it is more targeted towards people who wouldn't likely get a chance to meet us in person anytime soon. I was mostly posting this information so that you guys knew what to tell people if anybody was asking you where you could buy the cd, and in case any of you wanted to order it, but not to try to push you to buy it that way.
I know that you guys are all going to want to get hard copies, but just FYI, the best way for us for somebody to buy a cd is in the form of a download, like from itunes. Our profit margin on that is the highest, and it is a recorded and reported sale. The new cd isn't on itunes yet, but it will be in a few weeks.

Also, regarding Lonestar's payment methods, what you heard is untrue. Their payment system is set up to suit the needs of acts that move a lot of units. So it may seem to acts that don't sell many copies like it takes a long time to get paid, but they are clear about how they handle it, and I have never had any problem with them.

Just buy 3 copies. At a show, online, and at LSM.
