 Deer Hunting
« Thread Started on Nov 5, 2009, 11:45am »

Well, rifle season kicks off in 2 days. I'll miss this first week, but, I'll be in the field the 13th-18th. Can't wait to get out there. New moon and perfect weather expected. Rut should be kicking off about the same time too.

Last weekend, I got some feeders set and brush blinds put together. Cleared a few shooting lanes through the mesquites and set my camera in a new spot. I can't wait to see what's back there. Since the place I've always hunted got leased, the owner moved me over to a smaller 70 acre place. I think it may be just as good if not better. There are trails everywhere through it, but it's way thicker. We'll see.

Take a look at these bruisers to get you fired up...

If you come up on a herd like that, is it possible to shoot more than one? Is it legal?

I think I could do it.

Depends on which county your in. Some are 2-3 buck counties, meaning you can shoot 2-3 a season. Some are 1 buck counties, which I am in. So, if I see this, it's take your pick.

The good thing is, if I miss, there's other options.

Silver Eagle Distributors in Houston bought this ranch down in Alpine called The 9 Point Mesa. This video is something one of their VP’s took a few weeks ago.

Yeah I have connections.

I can't hit the pines until the weekend of the 13th either. I'm on call this weekend. I'd rather have call duty this weekend and all next week anyways. That way, I don't have it for the rest of the year. Score.

1775, you say? That's right. Older than the U.S. Constitution itself. Who else do you know that can do it better? Go ahead, I'll wait.

That video is sick.

I think I might be able to hit one of those, too.

DB - If you get a chance to hunt that place, you better have one hanging on your wall next fall.

Next week is going to kill me. I hate knowing that so many people are out drinking, bullshitting around a campfire and pissing in the woods, while I'm at work. If I could take off work from Sep 1st to Dec. 31st, I would.

READ THIS TEXT FIRST BEFORE LOOKING AT THE PICTURE !!

What a buck and doe combination. If you can't see the buck, wait a few minutes and concentrate on the left side of the photo. (The buck scored 184 5/8 Boone & Crockett Points; for any one who cares). Ms Bowman, 28, single, lives in San Antonio and owns the Bowman Ranch; all 8000 acres, located 15 miles east of Carrizo Springs. Again, the buck is on the left.

Give a man a fish, feed him for a day.

Teach a man to fish, and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day.

This one was taken off of my lease this morning. My buddy has been after him for the last two years. Not a bad buck.
